About Brylan

Brylan Finley, mezzo soprano, recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Vocal Arts at the USC Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Elizabeth Hynes.   In 2020, she made her professional solo operatic debut as Julia Bertram in the U.S. premiere of the orchestrated version of “Mansfield Park” with Opera Modesto. Other recent roles include the Stepmother in “The Juniper Tree” (USC Opera, 2024) and Jenny Diver in “Three Penny Opera” (University of the Pacific, 2022), a production that won first place in division III of the National Opera Association’s Opera Production competition. Brylan’s operatic experience also includes chorus roles in “Chérubin” (USC Opera, 2023), “Carmen” (Opera Modesto, 2019), “Madama Butterfly” (Townsend Opera, 2018) and “Our Town” (Townsend Opera, 2017).

In musical theater, Brylan portrayed the Baker’s Wife in ”Into the Woods” (University of the Pacific, 2023), which won second place in division III of the National Opera Association’s annual production competition. She also starred in 73 performances of “Molly Bloom Lately” as the titular character with the Gallo Center for the Arts (2015-2016).

A decorated performer, Brylan won the 18-25-year-old division of the Stockton Opera Guild competition in 2019, and 2022, she was the Concerto Competition Winner and the Conservatory-Wide Honors Recital Competition winner at the University of the Pacific. In 2023, she graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Performance Voice from the University of the Pacific, where she studied under Daniel Ebbers and James Haffner at the Conservatory of Music.

In addition to performing, Brylan is a private vocal and acting teacher, and she owns her own studio. In 2024, she was certified in Module One of the Michael Chekhov Technique for acting coaches, teachers, and directors. Educated in American Sign Language, Brylan also brings her directing, dancing, acting, songwriting, and choreography skills to her stage work and teaching.
